Crossing Center Line Not Enough For Stop to be Legal

Chariton, Lucas County, Iowa. Judge ruled that GRL Law's client's crossing the center line on a rough patch of road, when no traffic was affected, did not justify the officer's stop of client's vehicle. The officer followed client for two more miles and his driving did not warrant a reasonable belief that he was committing a crime. All evidence obtained as a result of the illegal stop was thrown out of court. Charge will have to be dismissed and clients driving privileges are reinstated.
