United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa. Des Moines, Iowa. Four firearms, a Bowie knife, crossbows and drugs were ruled inadmissible at trial after a Federal District Court Judge concluded that the police officer's search of the defendant's residence was illegal. The investigating officers conducted their search of defendant's residence after the scene was already secure but without first obtaining a search warrant in violation of the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution.
