OWI 2nd Avoided and License Saved in Jasper County

Newton, Jasper County, Iowa. A Newton man's driving privileges were saved and his Operating While Intoxicated 2nd Offense charge amended to a simple misdemeanor Public Intoxication when it was discovered that the arresting officer gave him false information regarding license suspension periods prior to his refusal of the breath test. Prosecutor agreed to exclude the test refusal and amend the charge down which spared his driving privileges.
