Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa. GRL Law took over the defense of a young woman accused of operating while intoxicated in Iowa City back in April of 2020, right as the COVID-19 pandemic was ramping up. Dissatisfied with the willingness of her prior attorney to take the case to trial, GRL Law was called in to take over. Pretrial motions were filed and decided by the court and the case was confirmed for trial on multiple occasions only to have trial repeatedly continued. Finally, with courts opening back up, the prosecutor agreed to resolve the case with the simple misdemeanor charge of Driving Without a Valid Driver’s License in Possession, a resolution originally proposed by GRL Law back when they took over the case. This case is a great reminder that perseverance pays off in life and in law.
