It is high time we formally introduce everyone to the woman who has been working quietly behind the scenes, researching, writing arguments and keeping the GRL attorneys up to date on the newest developments of Iowa law. Sydney Ross. As the newest attorney teammate at GRL, Sydney is now out of the shadows of her law clerking duties and is full-steam ahead with the official practice of law.
Sydney joined GRL as a law student clerk as the COVID Pandemic was just taking hold. She quickly distinguished herself with her ability to develop complicated legal issues, breaking them down in a way that made them both understandable by someone unfamiliar with the issue and at the same time incredibly persuasive. Sydney excelled academically at Drake University Law School, achieving academic success unmatched by any other attorney at GRL. She completed both the basic and advanced Drake Legal Clinic Criminal Defense programs and was awarded the International Academy of Trial Lawyers Student Advocacy Award. Sydney also had the honor of working as a law clerk for Iowa Supreme Court Justice, Brent Appel. Graduating early, Sydney passed the Iowa Bar Exam scoring in the top 1% nationally.
