A Deferred Judgment Does Count – Felony Domestic Assault Reduced – OWI Charge Dismissed

Garner, Hancock County, Iowa.  Felony Domestic Abuse allegation reduced to a simple misdemeanor and OWI accusation dismissed.  A thorough investigation into the circumstances of the allegations revealed that the arresting officer improperly informed GRL Law’s client that his prior deferred judgment for operating while intoxicated did not count as a prior offense.  This misinformation, when pointed out, resulted in the license suspension being reversed by the Iowa Department of Transportation which also saved client’s commercial drivers license.  The operating while intoxicated criminal accusation was consequently dismissed.  The initial felony charge related to allegations of domestic abuse assault was ultimately reduced […]

Child Endangerment and Domestic Assault Causing Injury Charges amended to Disorderly Conduct

Boone County, Iowa-A GRL Law client was facing domestic assault and child endangerment charges after the client’s ex-girlfriend made allegations that he had assaulted her tried to push her down a flight of stairs while she was holding the child.  As the matter approached trial, the State’s attorney was convinced by Mr. Gangestad to dismiss the charges of child endangerment and domestic assault and amend them to a disorderly conduct charge, a simple misdemeanor.  The client was able to retain his firearms and hunting rights as a result.

Domestic Abuse Assault Charge Reduced

Dallas County Iowa.  Attorney Matt Lindholm was able to secure a reduction from a domestic abuse assault charge to disorderly conduct which is a simple misdemeanor.  As a result, no jail time was imposed, no batterer’s education class was required, and the reduction will not affect the client’s ability to possess firearms.  Additionally, the no contact order was dropped and the client was able to reunite with his family.
